i bet you all are wondering how my job has been going, am i right? Well its going great. I had to quickly adapt to the workplace there, seeing as 3 people called in sick on my second day of work. So with no prior training, I had to take on the entire front desk, customer service, print, bindery and sales. Go me! Answering phone calls, making phone calls, talking to clients, creating reports, and printer maintanence is just skimming the surface of what my job entails. Overwhelming definitly, but i feed off of the pressure. I love the drive that accompanies a busy work day. I feel so accomplished when my day is finally over. My dilemma now lies in my jaded but promising future. Little rock is overflowing with potential to become a large print manufacturer. Graphic design is in the works, but at the time is financially unavailable. My aspirations lie in the graphic design arena, but it may take much longer than was expected to make it happen. So, do i stay with Little Rock where i will one day eventually become a graphic designer, or do I look at other propositions in Calgary? I love Little Rock, and all the staff that works there. So, if hypothetically speaking, I were to find another job that would offer graphic design, should i take it? or wait until i WILL become a graphic designer at Little Rock. errrg. Or do i persue my schooling in the fall, which was my original intent prior to being hired? I wish I were one of those people with only one dream and one clear path, but I can't force my heart to settle on one career. I want to do so many things with my life.
On a different note, Jason is gone for two weeks.... :(. I MISS YOU ZERBIT!!!!!!

hmmm that is a dilemma now, isn't it? Is there a difference in salary? That would be the only thing to consider. You are trained to be a graphic designer so that's what you should be doing.
However, if there's enough similarity between your current position and a graphic designer position and you really do enjoy your work place right now, then stay and wait it out.... but only if its promising enough.
And I could tell by the frantic tone of your voice that you already miss weenz on the day he left Calgary.... poor girl! How are you going to survive 2 weeks?!?!?!
poor shan.. thats a dilly of a pickle.
call me later so we can catch up. i'm back home in 25 days! :D
honestly.. not that you might think anything i say is worth listening too :p,
If you actually actually have aspirations of being a graphic designer, be one. there really isnt anything stopping anyone, despite the constant "everyone wants to be a designer" talk. In all seriousness a lot of the crap that gets designed is crap, especially in calgary. being the business orientated "as long as its done and works its fine" mentality.
Of course dont expect a $40-$70 per hour salary with only a diploma in graphic comm. Reason Im wasting $20,000 for another 4 years in artschool is just for a better looking piece of paper which, even then, wont reflect my skill as an artist.
everyone loses sight of what they want because they lose motivation, just have something that motivates you. Anyways wait about 1/2 a year to 1 year.... me and kyle will probably be starting up a studio/firm. It was his idea too.
I say get some experience for like a year at least at Little Rock. Working a year really isnt long. mindless as heck but at least your getting good pay. and raises every 2-3 months right.. but if you want to be a designer do random artsy things.. to build a portfolio (SOOOO NEEDED!!!!), and get better at art production of any kind from painting to.. photos or heck even litterary
oh yea im designing a site for a law firm, and a event poster for some art exhibition in england :| i bet my pay is gunna suck... 10% isnt much for freelance group :(
so....
you call him....
ZERBIT?!?!?!?!
Story behind that?

"AACK!!! It tickles too much when you give me a zerbit!"
